The sherwani is characterized by its use of heavy weight fabrics and in many cases more detailed embroidery and ornamentation work than the kurta. Jacquard, variations of silk and jute are common fabrics used to stitch sherwanis. Modern day variations of the sherwani are indo-western blazer like suits with an ethnic touch of fine embroidery and stonework.
